DISCOVERY CALL SCRIPT

PART 1: THE SETUP (2-5 Mins)
- Goal: Set the agenda and build rapport.
- "Thanks for jumping on. To make the most of our time, I'll ask a few questions about your goals, and then we'll see if I'm the right fit to help. Does that work?"
- "Just to make sure I'm up to speed, can you give me a 2-minute overview of what you're currently working on?"

PART 2: THE PAIN POINT (10-15 Mins)
- Goal: Find the 'gap' between where they are and where they want to be.
- "What is the main problem you're trying to solve right now?"
- "How is this problem affecting your business? (e.g., losing money, wasting time, slow growth)"
- "What have you tried in the past to fix this? Why didn't it work?"
- "If this doesn't get fixed in 3 months, what happens?"

PART 3: THE DESIRED OUTCOME (10 Mins)
- Goal: Define what 'success' looks like so you can price based on value.
- "If we solve this perfectly, what does the 'win' look like for you?"
- "How will you measure that success? (e.g., 20% more leads, 10 hours saved per week)"
- "Who else is involved in the decision-making process for this project?"

PART 4: LOGISTICS & BUDGET (5 Mins)
- Goal: Filter out clients who can't afford you.
- "Do you have a specific deadline or a launch date you're aiming for?"
- "Do you have a budget range set aside for this, or are you looking for me to propose a price based on the value we discussed?"

PART 5: THE CLOSE (5 Mins)
- Goal: Move to the next step without sounding desperate.
- "Based on what you've told me, I'm confident I can help you with [Specific Goal]."
- "The next step is for me to send over a proposal with two options for how we can work together. Can I get that to you by [Day/Time]?"
- "Any final questions for me before we hop off?"

Make it yours

  • Listen more than you talk; let the client speak 80% of the time.
  • If they are vague about the budget, give them a 'ballpark' range (e.g., 'Typically, projects like this range from X to Y') to see their reaction.
  • Record the call (with permission) so you can use their exact words in your proposal.
